Sound Helmet

This sound installation explores the slogans protesters have chanted in the KW area since the beginning of the Women, Life, Freedom movement in Iran. I recorded, with permission, the voices of protestors chanting in the last few months and then edited and combined these voice records into a soundtrack. I then made a paper mâché helmet and added a speaker to it. This cement-looking pyramid-shaped helmet represents a strong and safe place where I express the stress and tension I am experiencing, like many Iranians in diaspora, while thinking about Iranians losing their loved ones since the beginning of this movement.
