Peaceful Gathering Mural &
Augmented Reality Gallery

‘Peaceful Gathering’ is a community art mural project, created by Roshan James (she/her) and funded by the Region of Waterloo Arts Fund. The mural resides in the main hallway of the Downtown Community Centre in Kitchener, Ontario. The design is based on Roshan’s ‘People of Colour’ collection – an intersectional response to and representation of anti-Indigenous racism, anti-Black racism, and support for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, with a focus on holding space for joy, resilience, and diversity.

Over 30 community members joined in the painting of the mural. Embedded in the mural experience is an augmented reality (AR) gallery, showcasing the rich diversity and talent in our region, and featuring work being done to decolonize and improve life in our community by eight artists and community workers.

Big appreciation to the folks who made contributions to the Peaceful Gathering Mural Augmented Reality (AR) Gallery Fundraiser. Your donations supported honorariums for the 8 artists and community workers featured in the mural's AR Gallery at the Kitchener Downtown Community Centre!
